Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa Cities offers free of charge contraceptives for young students!
How does this work?
Student of Myllypuro or Arabia campus who are under 25-year-old can receive contraception for one year period free of charge. Contraceptive pills or vaginal ring are included in your student health care. Over 25-year-olds get the first placement of a copper or hormone IUD or contraceptive implant free of charge. The mandatory first appointment before setting an IUD is also included in student health care.
A fitting contraception method is chosen based on an interview by health care nurse. In addition to the interview, guidance and advice is provided on sexual health at the appointment.

Students of Karamalmi campus who are under 25-year-old can receive contraception pills or a vaginal ring for one year period and the first placement of a copper or hormone IUD or contraceptive implant, free of charge.
At the check up, following a labour or after an abortion, under 25-year-old can receive contraception pills or a vaginal ring for the first 12 months. Also a copper or hormone IUD, or contraceptive implants are free of charge.
At the health care nurse appointment, condoms are available free of charge.
Over 25-year-old can receive free of charge contraception pills or a vaginal ring for the first three months, if they haven’t used hormonal contraception before. The first copper IUD is also available, free of charge, if any IUD has not been used before.

Students of Myyrmäki campus can receive contraception from contraception and family planning clinics, free of charge. In Vantaa, student of all age can receive their first long term contraceptive device (an intrauterine device/IUD or a contraceptive implant).
Also those who have had an abortion within a year or are clients of welfare for abusers of intoxicants, can get their first long term contraceptive device free of charge. Those who change contraception method for medical reasons, can also get a three month starting pack for free. Also condoms and emergency birth control are available.
Under 20-year-old get contraception totally free of charge.
From 20 to 24-year-old students can receive long term contraception devices (an intrauterine device/IUD or a contraceptive implant), free of charge. Those who want contraception pills can get a three month starting pack for free.
