On year 2014 METKA carried out a project “Education is a Human Right” as a part of its development cooperation activities. The campaign aimed at opening a window to the realities in developing countries, and offering students possibilities to increase their knowledge of human rights, especially from the perspective of the rights of children and youth. The project started in April 2014, and culminated on autumn when a participatory photograph exhibition visited the campuses of Metropolia and DIAK. Photos can be seen also on Facebook.
The students had a central role in the project. The original idea had been crafted in METKA’s development cooperation group DeCo, and the photograph exhibition as well as other activities related to the campaign were designed by students. It was also possible to earn credit points from the project work.
Are you interested in global issues, and do you want to meet people from different campuses and study programmes? Then join METKA’s DeCo group! More information of DeCo can be found from our Facebook group.
The campaign was supported by official development aid from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
