This year METKA carries out a project “Global Economies in Students’ Daily Lives” as a part of its development cooperation activities. The campaign aims at opening a window to the realities in developing countries, and offering students possibilities to increase their knowledge of global development, especially from the perspective of global economies.
The project started in April, and culminates next autumn when a participatory workshop series is arranged. The specified workshops discuss different themes of global economies such as global employment, production and environment, corporate social responsibility, and students’ roles as both as consumers and as agents of change. The workshops are open to all students of Metropolia.
The students have a central role in the project. The original idea has been crafted in METKA’s development cooperation group DeCo, and the workshops series as well as other activities related to the campaign are designed by students. It is also possible to earn credit points by participating in DeCo’s project work.
Are you interested in global issues, and do you want to meet people from different campuses and study programs? Then join METKA’s DeCo group! More information can be found from our DeCo Facebook group.

The campaign is supported by official development aid from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
