Legal Organs of Metropolia

Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences legal organs are:

  • The Board of the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences
  • Financial Aid Committee
  • Board of Legal Rights
  • Board of Examiners

All student in Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences are eligible to apply. Working language Finnish, so fluent Finnish is a requirement.

The Board of the helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences

The Chairman of the Board is the Rector of Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Riitta Konkola. The board consists of the administration, staff and students as well as strategic partners. In the Board one can be in the core of decision making and become an influential part of the Helsinki Metropolia decision making.

The board gathers once a month or when required. An allowance is paid for participation.

Financial Aid Committee

The Chairman of the Committee is Juhani Nippala. The committee consists of Metropolia staff and students. Both have four representatives. Supporting the decision making the board has experts in different areas. The committee decides matters related to student financial aid.

The Financial Aid Committee is nominated by the board of the university of applied sciences and is operational in two year terms.

The committee gathers when required.

Board of Legal Rights

The Board of Legal Rights is an organ that decides on cases related to students legal rights and possible disciplinary matters. The board makes a decision suggestion to the rector. In addition the board can act as an expert for the rector or the board of the university of applied sciences.

The board of the university of applied sciences nominates the board of legal rights by the presentation of the vice rector. The term is two years long.

The Degree of Examiners

 The Degree of Examiners deals with issues related to course evaluations and AHOT-practices (previously gained knowledge recognition). It is nominated by the board of the university of applied sciences and the term is tow years long.
