The fall semester is right around the corner, and if you have not applied for Kela grants yet, now it is time to act. Early birds get the decisions first: there are thousands of students sending their applications to Kela at the moment.

Kela provides students both financial aid and housing allowance. Financial aid consists of the study grant and the student loan guarantee, and you can apply for both as soon as you have been admitted to a school. To apply for housing allowance, you need a signed rental agreement. Student loan is applied to a bank of your choice, after you have your student loan guarantee. Check the banks’ websites for more info.

If you are not eligible for financial aid for students, you may be able to apply for Adult Education Allowance for Employment Fund. The conditions include e.g. working life experience of at least eight years, being employed or an entrepreneur while studies for at least one year and going to study at least two months without interruptions.
