METKA is looking for two new board members for the rest of the year. What if it was you?
When working in the board, you get your own sector in charge, but you never act alone! You will be surrounded by a close-knit team consisting of the board, specialists and the presidium of the Representative Council. We work a lot together where humor is not spared and everyone is allowed to bring their personality to the game. Regardless of your own sector, you will gain experience in all areas of the student union’s operations, as board activities are carried out together.
We are looking for board members to implement activities through two METKA projects:
Metkasti Metropoliassa Kohti Kukoistusta (MMKK)
Interested in creating new types of community encounters and events? In this project, you will be able to build a student culture that is open to all and enables unique moments to remember for the students. You will have a community specialist as your work partner.
Metropolia On The Move (MOTM)
Project objectives:
- physical education, teaching and the study environment
- encouraging an active lifestyle and increasing community spirit
- creating conditions for everyday and sweat exercise
So you get to the very top of physical activity and sports development! You work closely with students, student associations and the university staff, where you have the ability to throw new ideas and practices into the circle. Sometimes even the wildest of them may come true. You get a project manager as your work partner.
But what exactly does a board seat require?
In this role, you will be able to show your passion for influencing students ’daily lives on campuses and in their daily lives. We do not require long experience. The ability to get excited and inspire and do things efficiently is enough; the rest we will teach you! The Board acts as a working board for which a reward is paid and makes it possible to apply for a few study credits. Hours vary, but it would be a good idea to book at least 25 hours a week to do the work. Work is timed for office hours, but light studies are possible besides.
New board members are elected in the meeting of the Representative Council. The meeting will be held on August 30th, 2022. The orientations for the roles will begin as soon as the new members of the board have been elected.
You can apply in advance by submitting a free-form written application to the presidium of the Representative Council at teemu.kokkonen@metkaweb.fi and santeri.hietanen@metkaweb.fi. Send the application before the meeting. You can also apply by running for the place at the representative Council meeting. A panel is usually held for the applicants at the meeting where the Board of Representatives will have the opportunity to get to know the applicants more, and they will have the opportunity to ask questions from the applicants.
