We are deeply saddened to hear that our METKA alumnus and long-time MysteRy board member, Juuli Ärttö, has passed away due to a medical incident.

Juuli has worked in a vast amount of roles within Metropolia. Juuli has worked in the board of MysteRy between 2019-2026 and in METKA during 2023 as a board member, and during 2024 as Vice-Chair of the Representative Council. Additionally, Juuli has served as a student representative on the Advisory Council of Occupational Therapy, The Board of Examiners and The Legal Protection Committee. Additionally, Juuli was active within METKA’s activities as an alumnus. Juuli graduated with a Bachelor of Social Services in 2021 and driven by a strong passion for helping others, they additionally enrolled at Metropolia to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy.

Juuli made a significant impact on all of Metropolia and its student community, and will be missed not only by fellow students and members of METKA and MysteRy, but also by many staff members at Metropolia. Juuli was highly respected and well-known at Metropolia. In addition to their versatile skills, Juuli will be remembered as a sunny, warm, reassuring, and humorous individual. There are countless funny and wonderful memories of Juuli, which we have been able to laugh and cherish about even in our grief. Beyond being a colleague on the board, they became an important and loved friend to many.

METKA and MysteRy would like to express their deepest condolences to Juuli’s family, spouse and Musti the cat. In Heli Kajo’s song “Jos mä kuolen nuorena”, there are some fitting lyrics: “Äiti ja isi älkää vaipuko tuskaan, mä nautin täysillä mun elämästä.” (Mom and Dad, don’t sink into sorrow, I enjoyed my life to the fullest.). Juuli truly lived, and their Imatra dialect and laughter will remain in all of our memories.

Remembering,
METKA and MysteRy
