Become a METKA Member

Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is Finland’s largest UAS, with over 19,000 students. To ensure we can be present wherever students’ voices need to be heard, we sell memberships to fund our operations. By becoming a member, you support the work we do for Metropolia students—and of course, you’ll also enjoy great member benefits!

Becoming a member

Membership is open to every student in a degree program or in an open UAS pathway studies at Metropolia and who has registered as attending.

You can join for a single semester or even for the entire duration of your studies at once! New students can join METKA starting from the day their enrollment status is marked as active.

You can join as a member in the Kide.app. If you don’t have a Kide.app account yet, create one. If you already have an account, you don’t need to create a new one for METKA membership. You can choose to pay via online banking, credit card, or MobilePay.

Prices

The prices for membership periods are decided by METKA’s Representative Council at their annual meeting. Current prices are:

  • Semester: 30 € *)
  • Academic year: 44 € *)
  • Calendar year: 44 €
  • 2 years: 73€ (36,5€/semester)
  • 3 years: 102€ (34€/semester)
  • 3,5 years: 117€ (33,40€/semester)
  • 4 years: 131€ (32,75€/semester)
  • 4,5 years: 146€ (32,45€/semester)

*) Memberships for the spring semester or the entire academic year expire on July 31, and membership for the autumn semester expires on December 31 of the following year. If you graduate, your digital student card will cease to function as soon as your right to study expires.

The membership fee is non-refundable if the conditions for membership are still met. Unused membership fees can only be refunded if the student is no longer studying at Metropolia, i.e. has either left the UAS or graduated. The fee will not be refunded if a student graduates or leaves UAS in the middle of a semester. Refunds are processed on a semester-by-semester basis: if a student has already attended part of the semester, the membership fee for that semester will not be refunded. We charge a processing fee of five (5) euros for all refunds of membership fees.

Event discounts

METKA members always get discounted tickets to events organized by METKA and many other student unions! The discount is up to 50%. Tickets for events are always available for purchase in the Kide.app. In addition to METKA, the following student unions are part of the event collaboration:

  • Arcada Student Union (ASK)
  • The Student Union of Haaga-Helia – Helga
  • Student Union of Humak University of Applied Sciences HUMAKO
  • Student Union of JAMK University of Applied Sciences – JAMKO
  • Laurea University of Applied Sciences Student Union Laureamko
  • The Student Union of Diaconia University of Applied Sciences – O’Diako

MeMove sports and wellness services

As a METKA member, you’ll get a MeMove sports pass. It includes an activation code for the Yogobe video workout service and the right to book a self-service slots. Self-service time slots include gym slots, badminton slots, and sports hall reservations. The sports facilities are located on the Myllypuro and Myyrmäki campuses.

Nationwide Student Benefits

With a METKA membership, you get access to a huge number of nationwide student discounts, such as VR’s student-priced train tickets and the discounts available through Slice.

Student Cards

With a METKA membership, you get access to as many as three different types of digital student cards, each with slightly different uses.

Tuudo

Tuudo is an app designed to make studying and getting around campus easier. In addition to your student card, you’ll find timetables, lunch menus, and campus maps, among other things.

All you need to use Tuudo is your Metropolia login credentials. Using the Tuudo app does not require METKA membership, but the student card only works with METKA membership. For non-members, Tuudo offers Kela’s pink meal subsidy card, which allows you to purchase student-priced meals at campus restaurants. Here’s how to get started with Tuudo:

  1. Download the Tuudo app to your phone from your app store.
  2. Log in to Tuudo with your Metropolia credentials.
  3. You’ll find student cards at the bottom of the screen: take a photo for your card, and you’re all set!

Slice

METKA members receive a Slice student card. Slice is not only a digital student card, but also an app and platform where you can browse thousands of discounts. Here’s how to get Slice:

  1. Purchase a METKA membership. Depending on system traffic, your information will be processed on the same day or within a few business days at most.
  2. Go to the Slice website (If you already have login credentials, you will be directed straight to the app store to download the Slice app)
  3. Select Metropolia University of Applied Sciences
  4. Fill out the form to receive an activation code (the information you provide must match the information given to METKA)
  5. Download the Slice app from Google Play or App Store
  6. Open the app and log in
  7. Enter the username and password (activation code) you received via email and accept the terms of use.
  8. If you change your phone, follow the instructions at slice.fi/resetoi

Kide.app

You can purchase a METKA membership through Kide.app. Kide.app is also the platform where tickets for nearly all student events in Finland are sold! Once your membership is active, you can purchase tickets at member rates for events organized by METKA and many other student unions. Here’s how to get started with Kide.app:

  1. Download the app (Apple App Store or Google Play)
  2. Create an account or log in. You don’t need to create a new account if you’ve used Kide.app before.
  3. Purchase a METKA membership
  4. Fill out the form at the same time (make sure you enter the information in the correct format)
  5. All set!
