Tuudo’s student card update happened on 1 August 2026. Due to interfaces between different applications and membership registers, Tuudo cards do not work correctly for everyone.
METKA members should see a blue card, whilst non-members should see a light pink card. If your card is not displaying the correct colour, please contact METKA: jasenpalvelut@metkaweb.fi. If you cannot remember whether you are a member or not, you can check e.g. on the Kide.app what duration of membership you have purchased.
Clearing the Tuudo cache may also help:
- Open the Tuudo app.
- Tap the Menu icon in the bottom-right corner (the three horizontal lines).
- Scroll down and select Settings.
- Select Clear cache.
You can only access the Tuudo student card if you are a member of the student union. This card is blue and features the logos of Kela, VR, Matkahuolto and METKA. All students will continue to have access to all other Tuudo features, such as schedules, restaurant menus, room bookings and maps. Regardless of their membership status, all students can also use Tuudo’s pink card to gain access to student priced lunch in Metropolia’s restaurants The same student card model is in use at almost all Finnish universities of applied sciences and was also in use at METKA until 2019.
The change is based on a decision by METKA’s Representative Council. The decision is intended to secure METKA’s operations, such as the organisation of tutoring and the high-quality representation of students’ interests, in the future as well. The Student Union is the only statutory body representing students’ interests within the UAS that works continuously to improve students’ everyday lives.
Note! The membership fee is non-refundable if the conditions for membership are still met. Unused membership fees can only be refunded if the student is no longer studying at Metropolia, i.e. has either left the UAS or graduated. The fee will not be refunded if a student graduates or leaves UAS in the middle of a semester. Refunds are processed on a semester-by-semester basis: if a student has already attended part of the semester, the membership fee for that semester will not be refunded. We charge a processing fee of five (5) euros for all refunds of membership fees.
