The Student Union of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences METKA announces a vacancy for one (1) representative to Tenants’ co-operation body of Hoas (Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region) for the term 2027 and a vacancy for one (1) representative to the Finnish Student Health Services FSHS for the next two-year term (1.1.2027-31.12.2028).

Applications must be sent by fi lling an application form during the application period. The application must include the applicant’s name and contact details (e-mail address and telephone number). The application must also include a free-form application text, in which the applicant can, for example, introduce themself, explain their skills and experience or motivation for the position in question. Application period is running from 5 to 18 October 2026. The selection will be made at the METKA’s Representative Council meeting on October 26, 2026.

Hoas – Tenants’ Co-operation Body

The tenants’ co-operation body acts as a link between Hoas and the tenants. The co-operation body offers tenants a way to have an impact on tenant activities and housing conditions. Central themes are communality, tenant activity, housing costs, property maintenance, the general conditions of the tenancy agreement, the rules and regulations in the property and other current matters.

The tenants are able to have their say on how funds are distributed to support tenant activity. What kind of events and other activity Hoas should support and how club rooms should be furnished and equipped.

In the co-operation body the tenants have an opportunity to develop student housing in the best direction they see fi t. The co-operation body has been an advocate for international students and brought up issues regarding students’ income. The recommendations for developing the foundation’s operations given by the co-operation body are reported to the board of directors. The body meets 2-3 times per year at Hoas’s offi ce.

FSHS – Council

The election will be carried out in accordance with the rules of the Finnish Student Health Services FSHS and the Instructions on the election of representatives of the National Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK.

The council consists of a minimum of 24 and a maximum of 30 members. National Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK appoints nine representatives, seven of whom are nominated by the student unions of the universities of applied sciences.

The council meets twice a year, at the spring and autumn meetings. At the spring meeting, the Board’s report and accounts are presented, among other things. The autumn meeting presents the budget and the action plan, elects the chairperson and vice-chairperson of the council, the secretary and certain members, and elects the chairperson, vice-chairperson and other members of the board.
