At the turn of the year, Metropolia’s previous Degree Regulations were divided into two documents: the Degree Regulations and the supplementing study guidelines. The reform was worked on during the autumn semester 2024 and METKA was closely involved in this work. The Degree Regulations contain permanent guidelines and the study guidelines complement them with more concrete instructions. Both documents are equally binding for both students and staff. Compared to the previous regulations, the guidelines have been clarified or made more specific and, as a completely new feature, information on name change has been added.
Metropolia’s degree regulations and the complementing study guidelines define many important guidelines for students. These documents contain e.g. information about the right of absence, discretionary extension period, retaking failed exams and course evaluations as well as giving and receiving feedback.
Note! When the course ends, teachers have four (4) weeks to give evaluation. The course officially ends on the day indicated in the course description. When a holiday season is approaching, it is also worth noting that teachers’ vacation time is not included in those four weeks. Be patient, because grades can be given after the holiday season, too.
The study guidelines can be updated if needed. Is there something in the current documents that might need to be specified or updated?
The Degree Regulations and the Study Guidelines are found on OMA’s Study Guide
(Note! On the date of publication of this article, the English version of the supplementing guidelines are being translated by a professional. They are published as soon as the translation is ready. Degree Regulations are available in English already.)
