Zone, which currently offers sports services to Diak, Haaga-Helia and Metropolia students, as well as Haaga-Helia and Metropolia staff, will from 2026 offer sports services only to Metropolia students and staff. At the same time, Zone’s brand is renewed and the name is changed. By regularly following your own university of applied sciences’ intranet and e-mail as well as the student union’s website and social media channels, you will receive reminders and information on the subject.
Zone started its operation in January 2017, when students from all six UAS in the capital region could use the services. However, some of the schools also have campuses outside the capital region, and Zone has not been able to offer services outside the capital region due to the lack of sports facilities. In addition, the funding of the operation was significantly reduced from January 2025, when the 3AMK funding ended. Over the years, the costs have also increased, and the prices have not increased much. Due to these, we have discussed the development needs of UAS sports with the remaining UAS and student unions.
What stays?
- All 2025 sports, gym and single visit passes are normally available.
- Services for the autumn 2025 season will remain similar to that in the spring. Zone will publish the sports calendar for the fall semester on its website by August.
- From August, you can buy sports and gym passes only for the autumn semester 2025.
What changes?
Diak
- Zone’s services will end for Diak students from the end of January 2026.
- Diak and O’Diako are considering other solutions to replace Zone.
Haaga-Helia
- Zone’s services will end for Haaga-Helia students from the end of January 2026.
- Helga has received external funding for the planning of its own sports services, which means that Haaga-Helia’s students will continue to be offered various opportunities for exercise.
Metropolia
- The sports facilities of Metropolia Myllypuro and Myyrmäki will be available to Metropolia students and staff according to the agreed times from 2026.
- Self-service shifts will continue in Myllypuro and Myyrmäki in 2026, the rest of the service selection will be determined during the fall semester of 2025 and will be informed later.
- Metropolia students and staff will be informed as soon as sales of sports passes for 2026 open.
Zone would like to thank everyone who has used sports services and hopes that you will continue to enjoy the services in the fall semester 2025 as well!
Please contact your own UAS/student union if you have any questions.
