Veera Kaija
In 2021, Veera did student advocacy in METKA with absolutely incredible drive and enthusiasm. Despite a particularly challenging pandemic year, Veera had the energy to take care of the benefits of the students almost endless amounts.
Linda Lindgren
Linda has meritoriously worked for both METKA and the entire student field. Linda has been confidently looking forward, building an ever-improving METKA, but always doing it together with others. Linda’s way of supporting and encouraging both new and old actors stands out.
Valtteri Markula
As a dedicated METKA alumnus, Valtteri has worked in the student field and at METKA for a long time. Valtteri’s long-term and determined work has taken METKA forward and helped it succeed. Valtteri has always been ready to help future generations of METKA. Although Valtteri has not been a member of METKA’s Board for a few years now, he has always been available, especially in organizing elections of Representative Council and election panels.
Reija Rautiainen
With great dedication, Reija has worked as a tutor in Biological and Chemical Engineering. Despite the exceptional circumstances, Reija has always managed to create an immediate sense of community for students and has done more work for it and for all tutoring than ever requested.
Lasse Rantaniitty
During 2021, Lasse’s work on tutoring turned out to be most valuable. It is largely thanks to Lasse that tutoring in Arabia, and throughout Metropolia, is at its current level. Lasse can deservedly be considered a role model for every tutor.
Helsingin Tekniikan Opiskelijat HTO ry
Despite exceptional circumstances, HTO carried out its operations in 2021 meritoriously. Through active advocacy, the implementation of both traditional and new events, and the development of their activities, they managed to take their association and student community forward.
Mira Qvist
Mira has been a passionate student active throughout her studies. Years as a tutor, on METKA’s spex, on MysteRy’s Board and now on METKA’s Representative Council are an indication to the commitment to work for the benefit of the student community and the admirable enthusiasm to help just about every student, regardless of field.
Roi Santavuori
Roi’s passionate approach to advocacy in the construction field has delighted METKA.
Student Christmas Celebration
The Christmas Eve event by HTO, MysteRy, Trombi and KaMA provided a community for those who did not have it and gave them the opportunity to spend Christmas with others. The event was an extremely noble demonstration of their commitment to the student field and their genuine desire to help.
Kaisaniemi
“Kaisaniemi ei lobu” (Kaisaniemi does not end) was this classic saying in the autumn of 2021. Over time, Kaisaniemi Park became a symbol of interdisciplinary “coveralling”, where you could forget the dark Covid years and finally enjoy student life. This communal phenomenon, which originated from the orientation week, has succeeded in bringing students together despite the weather week in week out.
Timo Laitinen
Timo’s student-oriented and pedagogical approach to teaching is visible despite the distance learning. Timo makes sure everyone understands things and gets the support they need, even if it’s out of his own time. Timo is willing to actively engage in dialogue with students so they feel heard. Thanks to his work, students are able to enjoy teaching of a high quality.
Heidi Rontu
Although Heidi is still quite new in Metropolia, she has become an important partner for students and student actives in a short time. Heidi always talks openly about grievances and makes things happen. Heidi has made a strong contribution to the reform of Metropolia. Heidi’s strong student-oriented approach has stimulated discussion about the problem areas among a wider audience than before. Cooperation with Heidi is always easy and smooth, and the work that has started well makes us expect big things from the future.
