There are many independent student associations in Metropolia UAS that collaborate with METKA. They operate on one or more Metropolia campuses, and do local advocacy and coordinate events for their target groups.Student associations sell overalls in Metropolia, and you can participate in their local activities.

Student Association’s Introduction

“The Association or guild of Automation Students, AOK for short, represents the engineering students of the electrical and automation engineering degree program at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. The main subjects represented are electric power engineering, automation engineering, English-language electronics and, as the latest addition, real estate electrical engineering.

The guild was founded in 2003 and since the beginning has worked in active cooperation with operators in the field of technology, offering leisure activities, a view and networks for both studies and working life.”

Student Association’s Introduction

“Demoni is the own association of all culture people and we deliver a pink message!

We organize nice events and things to do. Our annual events are RatikkAppr6 as part of METKA’s Week of Wappu, the Drink or Treat Halloween event, Demoni’s Design Christmas sale, Valentine’s Day parties, and we organize many board game nights that have already become a tradition.

Through Demoni, you can also get culture students’ burgundy overalls, and freshers will have their own culture baptism! Of course, we do advocacy for cultural students and help in problem situations. Contact us and get involved in our activities!”

Student Association’s Introduction

ESN Metropolia is a part of the international Erasmus Student Network. The interdisciplinary association works on all Metropolia campuses as a representative of international students, but officially ESN Metropolia is registered in Myyrmäki. ESN Metropolia, together with other ESN sections in the capital region, organizes student parties, trips, sauna evenings, trips abroad and other events for international students – when conditions permit.

All international and international-minded students are welcome to participate, regardless of field or campus!

Student Association’s Introduction

Hi!

We are the Metropolia Student Association of land surveying students, which was founded in the summer of 2022. Our intention is to combine land surveing students of different classes for events and hobby experiments. The aim is to increase the knowledge of our field and form a community. We organize business visits to campus and excursions.

In addition, we get overalls for new land surveying students. You recognize us from the all black overalls, because land surveying is the new black.

Student Association’s Introduction

Helsingin Tekniikan Opiskelijat – HTO ry represents all students in Metropolia’s engineering and transport fields. We operate on all three tech campuses. We are student advocates and organize a variety of events, from which the most famous events are Tursajaiset for the first-year technology students and mindlike, as well as the legendary Esileikki.

We also have clubs that members can participate in, or even start a new one. We have sales products such as overall badges, lanyards, and lab coats. Any Metropolia’s engineer or transport stundents are eligible for our free membership. With the membership you get special prices on our products and events, for example. More information about us, our events, our clubs or anything else can be found on our website. If you are even more interested in our activity, the website also gives more information about how to get involved with us.

Student Association’s Introduction

Me BiEn, or officially Bio- ja kemiantekniikan sekä energia- ja ympäristötekniikan opiskelijayhdistys ry, is a student association for the students of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering and Energy and Environmental Engineering in Myyrmäki. We do student advocacy, community building and excursions for our members. The association was created at the end of 2023, when it was realised both fields and their student lives were lacking a sense of community and it became clear they needed their own organization. Me BiEn also procures coveralls for new students with UIO. The biochems’ overalls have a red top and dark green bottom and energy-environment students’ have a dark blue top and lime green bottom.

“MysteRy is the joint student association of Metropolia’s students in the social and health fields, which was founded in January 2019, when HIV ry and Soffa Ry merged. “Peritia Vestio is a term originating from the Latin language, which when translated into English means ‘the skill of dressing’. The purpose of the association is to promote the interests of Bachelor of Fashion and Clothing students at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and to bring the existence and competence of this study programme and its students to public awareness. In particular, to create relationships between students and actors in the field is important to us. By organizing a lot of events and company visits, we aim to create connections with companies and at the same time build a tight community among the students of the clothing industry.”

Student Association’s Introduction

Rakennusarkkitehtikilta (the guild of construction architects) is the own association of Metropolia’s architect students.

RAK’s most important tasks are e.g. promoting the issues and interests of students in the field, creating a framework for building professional network, strengthening community and learning through excursions and other events, and creating an inspiring community atmosphere between different years’ classes.

Behind the association is a small and tight-knit group that stays from morning to night on the third floor of the Myllypuro campus at Arkkitehtuuristudio!

“We organize various events, from bar parties and annual galas to after works and excursions. We also actively support the professional development of our business student members. Our office is located on Metropolia’s Myyrmäki campus in office A128 in the corridor between the canteen and the cafe. Trombi people can be recognized by their turquoise overalls!”

“TXO ry has operated as a student association promoting the interests of nursing-based fields since 1942, and thus we are the oldest student association in those fields in Finland. Every Metropolia University of Applied Sciences nurse, public health nurse, midwife, paramedic or DPN degree student can become a member of the association, as well as open UAS students taking studies of these degrees. One of our most important tasks is protecting the interests of our members. Our events include e.g. overall patch sewing evenings, women’s and men’s day sitz and Hoitsupaatti cruise.”

Student Association’s Introduction

“Hello! We are Uudenmaan Insinööripiskelijat UIO ry, a student association in the field of technology and transport operating in Metropolia. We operate on three campuses and are actively involved in creating an engineer-like student culture. We are the local association of the Engineers’ Association and by joining us you also get the benefits of the Engineers’ Association.

Our events that you may recognize are e.g. Idän Munajahti, Interdisciplinary Mölkky and Jalon Joulun Juhla (more commonly known as J^3). In addition to events, we invest in high-quality advocacy and student networking both during and after studies.

“Kinder coveralls” (white top and orange bottom) serve as general engineering overalls. Bio and chemical engineering overalls: red top and dark green bottom, energy and environmental engineering overalls: dark blue top and lime green bottom.
