“I decided to be a tutor because my own tutors were so amazing! When I started my studies I didn’t know anyone from my degree programme or my way around the city. But with their help everything went fine and felt so easy. I wanted to do my part and help the students next year.”’
Tutor application period is on!
The application period: 3.-23.2.
The tutor application form in English
(The form in Finnish can be found from the Finnish site)
All tutors (new, old, peer, degree, exchange, topup & tokasa) apply during this period and by the same form.
The next application period will be in September for Spring 2026 tutors. If you want to tutor next Autumn, apply now.
Tutor training sessions will be held in April.
Exchange tutor application
Exchange tutoring includes more individual guidance when compared to peer tutoring. As an exchange tutor, you get to help the exchange student get started in a completely new environment and it’s a good opportunity to gain experience from guidance. On top of this, exchange tutoring is a great warm-up for your own possible exchange period!
If you want, it’s possible to apply for more than one roles of tutoring at once, for example to tutor both freshers and a few exchange students. If you apply for both, you must participate in peer tutor training and the first evening of exchange tutor training. The dates of the training sessions are announced on the application form.
Interested? You may ask for more information from your own tutors and their head tutors, especially degree- and exchange head tutors. You can always contact us as well from tutor@metkaweb.fi.
Peer tutor application
All applicants will be invited to interviews, and information about selections will be sent as soon as possible to all applicants. The dates for all of the training sessions will be announced in the application form.
In addition to METKA’s website, the easiest way to find out more about tutoring is through your own tutors and head tutors. These competent tutors can answer, among other things, to everything. We here at METKA are glad to provide answers as well. The best way to reach us is through our email, tutor@metkaweb.fi.
Degree tutor application
Degree tutors tutor new degree students in English. Students may be from Finland or other countries.
You may ask for more information from your own tutors and their head tutors. You can always contact us by tutor@metkaweb.fi.
Topup and tokasa tutor application
Topup students do part of their studies in Finland. Tokasa students study all of their studies in Finland. Students also learn Finnish during their studies. These students arrive at different times so part of the tutoring is done remotely, part as a hubrid and part at campus. Topup and tokasa tutoring is a quite a new form of tutoring which we are still developing.
You may ask for more information from Myllypuro international head tutors team’s topup & tokasa head tutors. You can always contact us by tutor@metkaweb.fi.
