The discussion in social media is currently highly focused on foreigners and people with foreign backgrounds. There have also been racist statements in media and on the streets. Equality and internationality are important values to our student union and METKA aims to progress multiculturalism by resigning from all racist action. METKA values its diverse group of students.
If you or somebody you know have experienced racist or other type of discrimination and you feel you need help in dealing with the matter, contact our advocacy specialist Matti Tujula (edunvalvonta[at]metkaweb.fi). You can also contact Metropolia’s curator Maarika Kortelainen (maarika.kortelainen[at]metropolia.fi) who’ll provide you with mental help.
Human rights are of great importance to us and everyone is entitled to a safe study environment that doesn’t include hate speech and racism.
