The Ministry of Education and Culture has granted continued funding for the Student Union METKA’s Metropolia on the Move -project for the following two years. The funding is used for continuing the development of the Higher Education on the Move program on Metropolia campuses.
The funding is a part of national active lifestyle development fundings that aim to promote the physical activity of the Finnish population and the adoption of an active lifestyle. Continued funding was granted for two development projects that aim to promote an active lifestyle in a higher education setting.
The Metropolia on the Move project started in autumn 2021. The goal of the project is to promote students’ well-being by improving the conditions for physical activity in the Metropolia higher education community. So far, implemented actions have been e.g. providing a free Break Pro break exercise app for the Metropolia students, establishing a soon-to-be launched sports equipment loaning service on the Arabia campus library, and planning of low threshold recreational activities through the On the Move team. Moreover, the EveryMoveCounts campaign that can be seen on Metropolia campuses, has been implemented as a part of the project.
