Come join us to celebrate Finland’s 105th anniversary in a traditional student torchlight procession! The first student torchlight procession was already organized in 1951, and since Finland’s 100th anniversary, UAS student unions have also been able to participate.

The student unions of the capital region AYY, HYY, TaiYo, SHS, the student unions METKA and Helga, and Kadettitoverikunta will once again jointly organize the Student Independence Day torchlight procession. In addition to the procession, the program includes e.g. celebratory speeches from representatives of student unions and the mayor of Helsinki, as well as a choral singing.

The procession is full of happy festive atmosphere and light in the spirit of a communal and forward-looking student movement. Put on a student cap and weather-appropriate outerwear. Dark clothing is recommended for flag bearers and heralds, but for everyone else the dress code is “come as you are”!
