Supplementary application of METKA’s board for the year 2024 is open and the application deadline is on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:59 PM. Apply to help build the student union, influence issues concerning students, and develop the Metropolia student community in a better direction!
Board’s Responsibilities
The board manages the daily operations of the student union together with its employees at all Metropolia campuses. The student unions board is a working board, meaning that the position is full-time and partly compensated. The amount of compensation and the number of payment months are decided by the representative council at the annual general meeting. When applying, it’s important to consider that combining studies with board duties simultaneously can be challenging in terms of schedules and workload. In addition to daily work and leading the operations of individual sectors, the board engages in long-term student advocacy, represents the interests of the student union members, organizations, and external stakeholders, and is responsible for implementing the action plan. The board meets approximately once a week during semesters at the student union office or remotely. Additionally, the board participates in weekly meetings with the staff once a week. Board work mainly takes place on weekdays during office hours.
Board Composition
The board consists of a chairperson, vice-chairperson, and board members. The student union has several operational sectors, and each board member is responsible for one or more sectors. At the end of the supplementary application process, the board organizes and distributes the operational sectors. Throughout the year, board members have experts supporting their work. Despite their specific sectors of responsibility, much of the board’s work is collaborative!
The operational sectors of the board are: Advocacy, Membership Services, Sports, Corporate Collaboration, Tutoring, Anti-Harassment Personnel Activities, Events, Internationalization, Community & Clubs.
Applying for the Board
You can participate in the board’s supplementary application by filling out the form below by Friday, March 1 at 11:59 PM. Applicants will be invited to the student union’s representative council meeting, where the council will select the supplements to the board from the applicants. We encourage every applicant to prepare for the panel interview, where the applicant’s motivation, skills, and genuine interest in the position will be assessed.
